Mark Andreasen
Teacher
10th Grade
Science
Mr. Mark Andreasen currently teaches 10th grade Anatomy and Physiology and Environmental Science at Riverside Preparatory School. His teaching career has consisted of: Biology, Biology II, Life Science, Physical Science, Anatomy and Physiology, and AP Biology. He enjoys sports and has coached the Silver Knights Boy’s Basketball team, Cross Country, and Golf team in previous years. Before coming to Riverside Prep he taught at Silverado High School. Mr. Andreasen earned his Teaching Credential and Masters from the University of Redlands. Prior to Redlands he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree from Brigham Young University majoring in Biology. Mr. Andreasen sees himself as a professional educator and is therefore currently enrolled in the Doctorate class at Pioneer University.

Gregory Bailey
Math & Special Education
Mr. Gregory Bailey facilitates the special education program and supports many students in math at Riverside Preparatory School. Outside of the classroom, Mr. Bailey is the head football coach. This is Mr. Bailey’s first year at Riverside Preparatory. Prior to teaching at Riverside Preparatory, he taught and coached at Granite Hills High School, coached at Victor Valley College, and many others. Mr. Bailey is a first year doctoral student at Pioneer University. He has a master’s degree from Azusa Pacific in special education and a bachelor’s degree from Long Beach State in physical education. Mr. Bailey enjoys long slow drives across some of this country’s most remote areas. One of his personal goals is to walk from Apple Valley to Denver.
Becky Barkdoll

Physical Education
Mrs. Becky Barkdoll teaches Physical Education at Riverside Preparatory School. She earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from California State University, Stanislaus, a Single Subject Teaching Credential and a Masters of Arts in Education at National University. She grew up in the High Desert playing soccer, softball, and volleyball in the local recreation and club programs. She continued on with the three sports through high school earning various MRL and CIF awards, finally rounding out her career with soccer and softball at the collegiate level including a year of Division II soccer at CSU Stanislaus. Coaching sports is a passion for Mrs. Barkdoll. She is currently the Head Varsity Volleyball coach at Riverside Prep.

Mrs. Kelly Caddell will be teaching Geometry and ASB/ Leadership at Riverside Preparatory for the 2010/ 2011 school year. She obtained her degree in Liberal Arts with a Multiple Subjects Emphasis from Chapman University, and received her credential in Mathematics. She is currently working on obtaining her Masters Degree from Pioneer University, and can’t wait to work with the students at Riverside Prep! When she isn’t at work or doing school work, Kelly loves spending time with her family, and stays exceptionally busy washing laundry for 5 kids!
Ms. Randi Cook teaches eleventh grade American literature, AP language and composition, business, and drama at Riverside Preparatory School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in management from San Diego State University. She worked as the career services coordinator for Platt College San Diego, until she returned to SDSU to receive her single subject credential in English and business. Ms. Cook will be attending California State University, San Bernardino this year to obtain her master’s degree in education.
Kenneth Cook-Askins
First Lieutenant Kenneth Cook-Askins has served as the California Cadet Corps, Commandant of Cadets at Riverside Preparatory School since April 2008. As the Commandant of Cadets, he is the chief instructor of the California Cadet Corps unit and is responsible for the overall management of the program. He has a Designated Subjects Special Subjects Teaching Credential (Basic Military Drill) from the State of California, Commission on Teacher Credentialing. First Lieutenant Cook-Askins was commissioned as a State Military officer in the rank of Second Lieutenant by the California Military Department in June of 2007 and was promoted to First Lieutenant in July of 2009. He’s a graduate of the Basic Commandant Training Academy and was the Distinguished Graduate for the Advanced Commandant Training Academy. Since June 2007, he has concurrently served as Brigade Support Officer for all California Cadet Corps units in the High Desert (18th Brigade) and also serves on the State Headquarters Staff of the California Cadet Corps as the Assistant Public Affairs Officer and Assistant Information Technology, Communications & Systems Officer. As a Brigade Support Officer he works along side the Brigade Advisor, running the day-to-day operations of the brigade and helping in the administration of brigade and school district functions throughout the High Desert. As a member of the State Headquarters Staff, they lead and guide the operations of the state-wide California Cadet Corps program, in conjunction with the full-time staff personnel of the California National Guard, Youth Programs Directorate. He also serves as the Commandant of Cadets at Victor Valley High School.

Mr. Michael deVries is the Vocal Music Director at Riverside Preparatory School. He earned a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from California Baptist University. He also completed his teaching credential at Cal Baptist University and will complete a Masters of Science in Education in 2011. Mr. deVries has a passion for choral music and believes that it should be a fun, exciting, meaningful, and engaging experience for all.

Mr. Gutierrez teaches Algebra 1, Geometry and Robotics at Riverside prep. He is a first year teacher that graduated college in March of 2007. He received his Bachelor’s of Arts degree in mathematics from California State University, San Bernardino and is currently enrolled in Brandman University’s credential program and Pioneer University’s masters program. Mr. Gutierrez has been substitute teaching for the Victor Valley School District for the last three years. When he is not busy doing school work, he likes spending time with his wife, family and canines.

Dori Lamar

Mrs. LaMar is the Social Studies Department Chair and this is her fourth year teaching at Riverside Prep. She teaches Modern World History, AP European History, and the junior project course. Last year she coached the HDAL league middle school boy's champion cross country team and middle school girl's soccer. This year she will be coaching the high school cross country team. Mrs. LaMar holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology and a Single Subject Social Science Credential from CSUSB.

Lauri Martin

Mrs. Lauri Martin is currently teaching 9th grade Language Arts, at Riverside Preparatory School. In addition, she teaches Psychology for an elective. She graduated from Chapman University with her BA in Liberal Studies. Since then, she has earned several credentials including a multiple subjects credential, General Sciences and English. She has taught numerous grade levels K-12, and enjoys all the small things in life. She loves learning constantly! ine.

Brian Redmond

Mr. Brian Redmond has worked at Riverside Preparatory school since its inception and is entering his 5th year as a teacher. Mr. Redmond holds a bachelors degree from Brigham Young University and is finishing his Masters degree in Science Education with an emphasis in Biology from Western Governor's University. He holds credentials in both Spanish and Science. Before coming to Riverside Prep Mr. Redmond taught at Mojave River Academy and has served as soccer coach, cross country coach, foreign language department chair, and the district science fair coordinator. In addition to Biology, he has taught all levels of Spanish, Physical Science, and Algebra. Mr. Redmond has high expectations and believes that every student can be successful if he or she is motivated and truly has a desire to learn.
Sean Redmond

Science
Sean Redmond teachers Chemistry and Physics to 11th and 12th grade students. Mr. Redmond received his Bachelors of Science in Physics from the University of California Riverside in 2008. He completed his teaching credential through National University and is currently working on his Masters of Art in Educational Physics through Western Governors' University which he plans to finish this school year. Mr. Redmond has taught Life Science, Physical Science, Physics, and Chemistry in his three years of teaching at Riverside Prep. Mr. Redmond is married and has two dogs that he enjoys spending time with. In his spare time he enjoys going for bike rides with his wife and dogs, watching the Anaheim Ducks play, and taking pictures of nature.
Daniel Rincon
Physical Education
Mr. Rincon is currently teaching physical education at Riverside Prep. He received his Bachelors degree in Kinesiology from California State University of San Bernardino and his Single Subject Teacher’s Credential in Physical Education from Redlands University. Mr. Rincon is the WR/DB coach for Riverside Prep boy’s football team and in the winter he will be the head varsity boys basketball coach. When not in school he enjoys playing golf, basketball, running, video games, poker, watching the Lakers and USC games.

Kelli Schiller

Mrs. Kelli Schiller is currently teaching Spanish I, II, III and journalism at Riverside Preparatory School. Mrs. Schiller graduated suma cumlaude from Utah State University with her Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and geography as well as her teaching credential. She taught middle school and high school for Cache County School District from 1997-2001 in addition to teaching English as a Second Language at night for the Logan English Language Center. In 2001, she moved to California where she has taught high school students for the past eight years and earned her California Clear Credential. She was also an adjunct professor for Victor Valley College in Victorville, CA. She is currently pursuing her Master’s through Pioneer University. This is Mrs. Schiller’s second year at Riverside Prep, and she is ecstatic to be part of such a superb school.
Mrs. Strand is a first year mathematics teacher at Riverside Prep. She has over eight years of successful tutoring and teaching experience among junior high and high school students. She received her Bachelor’s of Art in Mathematics at California State San Bernardino, her Single Subject Teacher’s Credential in Mathematics from the University of Redlands, and is currently enrolled in the Master’s of Education program with Pioneer University. Originally from French speaking Canada, she now resides in California. She takes pleasure in hanging out with family, reading, traveling, skiing, tennis, hiking, and canoeing.

Paul Verduzco

Spanish
Mr. Verduzco will be teaching the upper-level Spanish courses during the 2008-2009 academic year. He began his teaching career working with children with special needs and major behavior problems in the state of New York. He went on to work with elementary students as a phonetics coach, then later became a fourth grade teacher in southern California. Mr. Verduzco received two Bachelor’s degrees from Cal State San Bernardino: One degree in Latin American and Iberian Peninsular literature, and another in Spanish instruction and linguistics. During his time at Cal State he served as the President of the Latin American Studies Association where he was responsible for setting up venues based on the Latin American cultures.

Mary Whitlock

Mrs. Whitlock teaches Math and Home Economics at Riverside prep. She received her Bachelor’s of Science degree in mathematics from California State University, San Bernardino and is currently enrolled in Western Governors University's credential program. Mrs. Whitlock has worked for the Oro Grande School District as a math tutor and a substitute teacher and this is her second year of teaching. When she is not busy doing school work, she likes to go to Dodger games with her husband and play with her adorable rabbits.
Charlie Wilson

Social Studies & Technology
Mr. Wilson has been teaching in public schools for over 10 years. He holds a Bachelors Degree from Pacific Lutheran University, and a Masters of Science Degree in Educational Media Design from Full Sail University. Prior to teaching here at Riverside Prep, he taught for both the Apple Valley and Victorville school districts. In addition to teaching History, Government, and Economics, here at Riverside Prep, he will be a 12th Grade Senior Project advisor. He is also a 14-year veteran of the United States Air Force.
